Artistic History

The Lennon Wall stood out to me as soon as I stumbled upon it. It was one of the things I really wanted to see in Prague. It is incredible because of its history. The wall is filled with graffiti. It has been this way since the 1980s. It was a way students rebelled against the communist regime at the time. The government constantly painted it white but failed to suppress it completely. The student’s art was inspired by Lennon and the lyrics of his songs.Today, it is a sign of peace. If you see closely, you can see WAR IS OVER written.

DSC_3943Tourists leave a mark by writing their names on the wall. In my opinion this ruins the history of the wall. Nevertheless, you can see signs of its true purpose.
